Cook Strait, on the Ferry
You can fly from between the two Islands, and it's certainly more
comfortable, but then you'd miss the scenery, not to mention the authentic
cuisine of the Onboard Ferry Cafeteria.
The InterIsland Ferry service carries cars and people between the
North and South Island.
Cook Strait can be somewhat rough, so you'll want to gaze over the side a
lot, and look thankfully at the
lifeboat pods. Only one Cook Strait Ferry, the
Wahine
(Woman), has ever sunk.
